return to earth received director's choice in archoutloud's warming Competition 2021
Housing in Return to Earth offers an intuitive and speculative model for self sustaining, net-zero annual energy consumption housing. This model is expressed through a series of housing communities that produce systemic loops that are suitable to treat all of our basic human needs.
Return to earth exploits the waste we are producing, our energy, and our food/water similar to the way Native Americans would use bones from animals as weapons and tools. As the disconnect with our relationship with our environment continues to swell, our society has continuously looked to our future technology as a potential solution to climate change. This project states that the solution is in our past, and that we need to Return to Earth.
